Missed out on the Louis Vuitton Takashi Murakami Launch? What Should You Do Now?
If you learned about the release of the Louis Vuitton collection with Takashi Murakami launch too late or wasn’t able to get a highly coveted piece, don’t get too upset. There were so many people that have posted information online voicing their horrible experiences with the website trying to purchase items from this Louis Vuitton collection. There will be 2 more releases from this infamous collection that first made its way into our hearts 20 years ago. Sometime in March the Panda motif and the Cherry Blossom collections will be available. Then, sometime around June the Cherry collection will be available. There are mixed opinions on what will/has been released now compared to the original Louis Vuitton collection a couple of decades ago. One of the differences is pricing. The prices of Louis Vuitton bag new has drastically increased over the past 20 years and has likely priced a lot of people out. Even if you aren’t priced out and you had the money but still missed out you have a few options.
Option 1: You could wait, try to get in good with an SA to get something from the 2nd or 3rd release
If you wait, hopefully get something you wanted. With the overwhelming dissatisfaction voiced by the masses, maybe LV will listen, and the release will be better planned and smoother than the Multicoloure release.
Option 2: Purchase from a resale/consignment website
If you don’t care about price, just as long as you get what you want then go for it and get the Louis Vuitton bag new. No one can tell you what to do with your money and only you know your limits. Many of the newly released items will be at least double the retail price due to the extensive demand. You can also look for the vintage pieces. The benefit to vintage is you are getting the original version and, arguably, could be better quality than the newer version. I hate to tell you this but if you purchased these vintage multi-color pieces 5 years ago, they would have been wayyyyyyy cheaper than they are now. The prices on the vintage items have skyrocketed as well!

Option 3: Look ahead at future collections that will be released
Louis Vuitton is an iconic and extremely popular fashion house. In previous years, the design team has been looking in the archives for inspiration. Louis Vuitton has already released several vintage bags and with the massive demand for the Takashi Murakami Louis Vuitton collection you can bet there will be more Marc Jacobs era collections that will be re-released. Also, know that the prices on the vintage and new edition Murakami collection will come down. Be patient and wait a few years.
To make it easy here’s a list of some of the most popular Louis Vuitton collections.
Start looking for vintage pieces from the Louis Vuitton collection now and snap them up early, years before the prices start going up. Remember the worst time to purchase these vintage collections will be after a re-release has been announced.
